Job Description:

Hours: Full-time. Varies; 12p-8p and will include every other weekend and holidays.

Education Requirements: Associate degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution. Certification by an accredited agency as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent), current or within one year of hire. Successfully completed Medical Laboratory Technician internship (minimum of 3 months) or three months of equivalent work experience or combination of both. A Certified Laboratory Assistant with experience performing microscopic exams of urine, KOH preps, and Wet Mount will be considered.

Job Requirements: Responsible for performing waived and moderate complexity laboratory test for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Interacts with patients, providers, and coworkers in a positive, courteous manner to provide the patient with a very good experience.

List of Duties: Perform diagnostic and monitoring test on blood, urine, feces, cerebrospinal fluid, peritoneal fluid, synovial fluid, pleural fluid, and other body fluids. Evaluate results of testing and quality controls, calibrations, calibration verification/linearity/reportable range. Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections using proper patient identification, correct tubes, handling, and labeling appropriately. Understand, perform, analyze, and record quality control tests for each procedure including action taken to correct problems. Able to recognize deviations from expected results and analyze problems on scientific principles. Collect and prepare non-blood specimens for testing. Process specimens and reports to and from reference laboratories.
